MS Treatment Manages Symptoms — But the Disease Progresses

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic autoimmune disease where your immune system attacks the myelin sheath — the protective coating around your nerves. This demyelination disrupts communication between your brain and body, causing fatigue, numbness, vision problems, mobility loss, and cognitive decline.

Current disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) help reduce relapses but cost $57,000–$93,000 per year, carry significant side effects, and cannot fully reverse existing damage. MSC stem cells offer a different mechanism — modulating the immune system and supporting neuroprotection from within.

Disease-modifying drugs — $57K–$93K/year, significant side effects, don't reverse existing damage
Corticosteroids — Short-term relapse management, doesn't address underlying immune dysfunction
Symptom management — Pain, fatigue, and spasticity medications that mask symptoms without healing
HSCT — Aggressive chemotherapy to reset immune system, significant risk, requires hospitalization
MSC Stem Cells — Immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective — via simple IV infusion

How MS Affects Your Body

MS is a multi-system disease. MSC therapy provides systemic support — addressing the immune dysfunction driving damage throughout your nervous system.

😴

Crushing Fatigue

The most common and disabling MS symptom. Not ordinary tiredness — a profound exhaustion that disrupts work, relationships, and daily function regardless of rest.

Numbness & Tingling

Demyelination disrupts nerve signaling, causing numbness, pins-and-needles, burning sensations, and loss of feeling in limbs, face, and trunk.

👁️

Vision Problems

Optic neuritis, double vision, and blurred vision from inflammation of the optic nerve — often one of the earliest MS symptoms.

🦿

Mobility & Balance

Muscle weakness, spasticity, coordination problems, and difficulty walking. Progressive damage makes movement increasingly challenging over time.

🧠

Cognitive Decline

Memory problems, difficulty concentrating, slowed processing speed, and brain fog. Affects roughly 50% of MS patients and worsens with disease progression.

🔥

Chronic Pain

Neuropathic pain, muscle spasms, and musculoskeletal pain affect the majority of MS patients — driven by ongoing inflammation and nerve damage.

What Stem Cells Do for Multiple Sclerosis

MSCs work through multiple mechanisms that directly address the pathology of MS — not just the symptoms.

⚖️

Immune System Modulation

MSCs inhibit the overactive T cells and macrophages that attack your myelin. They promote regulatory T cells (Tregs) and shift macrophages from inflammatory (M1) to anti-inflammatory (M2) — rebalancing your immune system rather than suppressing it entirely.

🛡️

Neuroprotection

MSCs release neurotrophic factors that help protect existing nerve cells from further damage. Research shows they can reduce neuronal death in inflammatory environments — potentially slowing disease progression.

🧬

Support Remyelination

MSCs release growth factors that may support oligodendrocyte precursor cells — the cells responsible for producing new myelin. This could help repair the damaged nerve coatings that cause MS symptoms.

🔥

Reduce Neuroinflammation

MSCs release anti-inflammatory cytokines (IL-10, TGF-β) that calm the inflammatory environment in the central nervous system — reducing the ongoing damage to nerves and myelin.

🧠

Cross the Blood-Brain Barrier

Research shows MSCs can migrate to brain lesions when administered intravenously. Once there, they release therapeutic factors locally — targeting the sites of active MS damage.

🎯

Reduce Relapse Severity

Clinical trials have shown that MSC-treated patients experienced reduced relapse rates and better outcomes on MRI and cognitive testing compared to placebo — suggesting a disease-modifying effect.

Important: What We Know — and What We Don't

MSC therapy for MS is supported by growing clinical evidence, including multiple Phase I/II trials and a 2023 meta-analysis showing the majority of patients improved or remained stable. The international MESEMS trial confirmed safety and tolerability. However, large Phase III trials have not yet been completed, and no MSC therapy is FDA-approved for MS.

We also want to be clear: MSC therapy is not a replacement for your neurologist or your disease-modifying therapies. It is a complementary approach that may offer additional immune support. During your consultation, we'll discuss the evidence honestly, explain what we can and can't promise, and help you make an informed decision. If we don't think we can help, we'll tell you.

MS Support Without the Markup

Other stem cell clinics charge $10,000–$25,000 for MSC therapy. Your DMTs already cost $57K–$93K/year. Regenerative support shouldn't bankrupt you.

4 Simple Steps

1

Free Consultation

Phone or Zoom with our team (15 minutes). Discuss your MS type, current symptoms, medication history, and goals. We'll assess your situation honestly — if we can't help, we'll tell you.

2

Medical Review

Andrea Montana, MSN, APRN reviews your case in detail — MS subtype, EDSS score, current DMTs, relapse history, and imaging. She'll determine whether IV MSC therapy is appropriate as a complementary approach for your situation.

3

Treatment Day

1–2 hours in our comfortable clinic. 40 million premium umbilical cord MSCs delivered via IV infusion — circulating systemically to modulate immune function and reduce neuroinflammation. Full physician oversight. Go home same day.

4

Recovery & Monitoring

Weeks 2–6: Some patients notice improved energy and reduced brain fog early. Months 2–6: Continued immune modulation and neuroprotective effects. Work with your neurologist to monitor disease activity. Many patients repeat every 6–12 months as part of their MS management plan.

Common Questions About MS Treatment

How much does stem cell therapy for MS cost?
$1,999 all-inclusive at The Stem Cell Club. Consultation, 40 million MSCs, IV infusion, follow-up care — everything included. No hidden fees. Most clinics charge $10,000–$25,000 for the same quality treatment. See our pricing page.
Can stem cells cure MS?
No — and we won't claim otherwise. There is currently no cure for multiple sclerosis. MSC therapy is a supportive treatment that may help modulate immune dysfunction, reduce neuroinflammation, and provide neuroprotective support. It is not a replacement for DMTs prescribed by your neurologist. We set honest expectations during every consultation.
What types of MS can this help?
MSC therapy has been studied in clinical trials for relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS), secondary progressive MS (SPMS), and primary progressive MS (PPMS). The immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory mechanisms may be relevant across MS subtypes. Clinical trials show the most promising results for patients with active inflammatory disease, but progressive MS patients have also shown benefit in some studies.
Should I stop my MS medications?
No — never stop DMTs without your neurologist's guidance. MSC therapy is a complementary approach that works alongside your existing treatment plan. Continue all prescribed medications. We encourage you to discuss MSC therapy with your neurologist, and we're happy to coordinate with your medical team.
How is this different from HSCT?
Very different. HSCT (hematopoietic stem cell transplant) involves chemotherapy to completely destroy and rebuild your immune system — it's an aggressive procedure with significant risks that requires hospitalization. MSC therapy is a simple IV infusion with minimal side effects. MSCs modulate your immune system through anti-inflammatory signaling rather than destroying it. No chemotherapy, no hospitalization, no immune suppression.
What does the clinical research show?
Multiple Phase I/II clinical trials have been completed for MSC therapy in MS. A 2023 systematic review and meta-analysis found the majority of patients either improved or remained stable on the EDSS disability scale, with no major adverse events. The MESEMS international trial (funded by the National MS Society) confirmed safety and tolerability. A 2024 Phase II trial showed MSC-treated patients had reduced relapse rates and improved MRI and cognitive outcomes versus placebo. Research is promising but ongoing — we'll discuss the evidence honestly during your consultation.
Why umbilical cord MSCs for MS?
Research indicates umbilical cord MSCs (UC-MSCs) may be particularly well-suited for autoimmune conditions like MS. Compared to bone marrow-derived MSCs, UC-MSCs have higher expansion ability and more powerful immune-modulating properties. Studies show UC-MSCs significantly reduce inflammatory cytokine expression and can repair T-regulatory cell defects found in MS patients — addressing a core mechanism of the disease.
Is stem cell therapy safe for MS patients?
Across all clinical trials — including the large international MESEMS study — MSC therapy has consistently demonstrated a strong safety profile for MS patients. No serious adverse events were reported compared to placebo. Common side effects are mild and temporary: occasional low-grade fever, headache, or fatigue for 24–48 hours. All treatments at The Stem Cell Club are administered under physician oversight with medical monitoring.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does stem cell therapy cost in Fairhope, Alabama?
At The Stem Cell Club, stem cell therapy costs $1,999 — all inclusive. This covers your consultation, premium U.S.-sourced MSC stem cells, IV or injection treatment, and follow-up care. Most Alabama clinics charge $10,000–$25,000 for comparable treatment. We're able to offer lower pricing because we source directly from FDA-registered labs, don't pay commission-based salespeople, and keep our overhead lean.
Is stem cell therapy legal in Alabama?
Yes. Regenerative medicine and stem cell therapy are legal in Alabama. The Stem Cell Club follows all FDA guidelines for minimally manipulated umbilical cord tissue products. Our medical team provides full physician oversight for every treatment at our Fairhope clinic.
What conditions do you treat at your Fairhope clinic?
Patients come to our Fairhope location for knee pain, hip pain, shoulder injuries, osteoarthritis, back pain and disc issues, sports injuries, autoimmune inflammation, and general wellness and longevity goals. During your free consultation, we'll discuss whether stem cell therapy is appropriate for your specific situation.
How long does stem cell therapy take?
The procedure takes 1–2 hours at our Fairhope office. Most patients return to normal activities within a day or two. We provide detailed aftercare instructions to help maximize your results.
Why is your price so much lower than other Alabama clinics?
We source our MSC stem cells directly from FDA-registered labs — no middlemen, no brokers. We don't have luxury waiting rooms, commissioned salespeople, or celebrity marketing budgets. Our stem cells are the same quality as $15,000 clinics; we just don't mark them up 5–10x. We believe transparent pricing and honest care shouldn't be the exception in regenerative medicine.
Do you accept insurance for stem cell therapy?
Most insurance plans don't cover stem cell therapy yet, as it's still considered investigational by many carriers. However, many patients use HSA/FSA funds. At $1,999, our pricing is often less than a typical insurance deductible — and a fraction of what most clinics charge.
Can patients come from Pensacola or Gulf Shores?
Absolutely. We see patients from all across Baldwin County, Mobile, the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area, and even Pensacola, Florida. Fairhope is centrally located on the Eastern Shore, making it an easy drive from most Gulf Coast communities. Many patients combine their treatment day with some time enjoying downtown Fairhope.
When will I see results from stem cell therapy?
Results vary by person and condition. Some patients report reduced pain within the first few weeks, while others notice gradual improvement over 2–3 months as stem cells work to reduce inflammation and support healing. Most of our Fairhope members repeat treatment every 6 months for sustained benefits.
